Vimal Vidyalay Convent High School, Akalpur was initiated in 1991 by Late Bishop Hippolytus Kunnunkal OFM Cap., and has been administered by the Sisters of Notre Dame of Patna since 1992, following their Educational Vision and Principles alongside the common policies of the Diocese of Jammu–Srinagar.

The school serves children from the farming communities of Akalpur and the surrounding villages, with special concern for those who are economically, educationally, socially and culturally underprivileged — offering a child-centred, value-based education from Nursery to Class 10.
