House System

Four houses, named after the major rivers of Jammu & Kashmir, building teamwork, discipline, leadership and belonging.

Overview

Named After the Rivers of Jammu & Kashmir

At Vimal Vidyalay Convent High School, the House System plays an important role in developing a spirit of teamwork, discipline, leadership, healthy competition and belongingness among students. The students are divided into four houses, named after the major rivers of Jammu and Kashmir.

Ravi House

Ravi House encourages students to be courageous, disciplined and determined. It inspires them to face challenges with confidence and work together towards excellence

Tawi House

Tawi House represents enthusiasm, friendship and unity. Students learn to cooperate with one another and participate actively in various school activities.

Jhelum House

Jhelum House promotes wisdom, creativity and perseverance. It encourages students to discover their talents and strive for continuous improvement.

Chenab House

Chenab House stands for strength, leadership and responsibility. It motivates students to take initiative, support their team and become responsible young citizens.

Role of the House System

Participation Throughout the Year

The four houses participate throughout the academic year in sports, academics, cultural programmes, art and craft, debates, quizzes, celebrations, competitions and other co-curricular activities.

  • House Captains, Vice-Captains and other student leaders are given opportunities to take responsibility, guide their teams and develop leadership skills.
  • Points are awarded for participation, performance, discipline, teamwork and achievements.
  • The House System helps students understand that success is not only about winning, but about participation, cooperation, sportsmanship and giving one's best.
